Race Report: How the Action Unfolded

At the lights, Antonelli reacted sharply to hold the inside line into Turn 1. Behind him, Verstappen launched well but was squeezed on the exit, allowing Leclerc to dive down the inside into Turn 2 and take second place. Further back, Oliver Bearman and Franco Colapinto made contact in the opening lap congestion, compromising both of their races early on.
Tyre Strategy & Pit Stops
With high track temperatures at COTA, managing medium and hard compound degradation proved critical. Antonelli managed a gap of 3 to 4 seconds over Leclerc through the first stint.
Lap 18–22 Pit Window: Leclerc pitted first to undercut the lead, forcing Mercedes to respond with Antonelli on Lap 20. Antonelli emerged safely ahead on a fresh set of hard tyres and maintained a comfortable margin to the finish.
Battle for P3: Verstappen executed an aggressive undercut to pass Lewis Hamilton and pressured Leclerc late in the race, though the Monegasque driver defended stoically to keep P2.
Retirements & Midfield Points
Oliver Bearman was forced to retire on Lap 24 following floor damage from his early incident. Franco Colapinto (Lap 35) and Valtteri Bottas (Lap 48) also retired due to mechanical issues.
In the midfield, McLaren’s Lando Norris fought through to P5 after starting P8, while Isack Hadjar secured P6 for Red Bull. Liam Lawson (P9) and Pierre Gasly (P10) rounded out the points-paying positions.
